What are the ways of organizing trekking - Camping or Teahouse?
Our trekking trips include wide range of planning, and we organize camping and teahouse treks. Our camping treks are luxury treks and we provide world class camping equipments for staying in tented camps, hot and fresh food will be prepared and served by our professional kitchen crew. Teahouse trek are considerably less expensive. Overnight accommodations are provided in local lodges and they can be fairly basic. In most cases the bathrooms are shared. While our staff supervise the meal preparations, the meals are cooked by the lodge staff.
What are necessary equipments?
For trekking in Nepal and other Himalayan treks offered by Discover Nepal, you will need to be well equipped. A detailed list of recommended equipments & clothing are mentioned on the trip dossier. Equipment of major logistic support such as tents, camping and kitchen utensils will be provided by us.
What is the current security situation in Nepal? Are tourists safe in Nepal?
The security situation has improved since the Maoists have declared a ceasefire. Currently the Moaists have joined the mainstream government and won the majority votes in the general elections of 2008. Even during the on-going Moaist campaign, tourist were never harmed. The Moaist leadership has openly declared that tourists will not be targeted. In the past however, cash donations were collected from trekkers, sometimes forcefully. What kind of hotel accommodations does Discover Nepal use?
All hotels used by Discover Nepal are some of the best value available. For our full camping trips, we use 5 star rated hotels. Your stay in these hotels will therefore be very pleasant, and a reward for your efforts, both before and after your trips. For all other teahouse trekking trips, we use 2 to 3 star rated hotels. These hotels are very comfortable and help in keeping our package costs down. In places where rated hotels are not available, Discover Nepal will use the best hotels available. However, hotels can be easily switched on requests from our customers and the package cost will be automatically altered.
Can I obtain Nepal or Indian visa upon arrival at the airport?
You can only obtain Nepal tourist visa upon arrival at Kathmandu Airport. You must have visa before you arrive India. For visa to Bhutan and Tibet, Discover Nepal will make those arrangement once you arrive Nepal. See the visa information for more information
What is the best time of the year to visit?
Trekking in Nepal can be organized and enjoyed throughout the year. For example, we offer the Lo Manthang, Mustang trek during the summer while all other Nepal treks are offered during spring and autumn. We also offer trips to Tibet during the summer. However, Spring (March - May) and Autumn (September - November) are considered as the best seasons for trekking in Nepal.

To make a booking please send us an e-mail detailed with the trip name and number of people. On receipt, we will check the availability of your chosen trip. We will require a 10% of the trip cost including internal airfare, to be paid within one week of our confirmation. Please check our booking conditions for detailed information.
